Jenny Braig grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, where she received a major in art, and minors in art history and English, from Loras College in 1992. That same year she moved to the Black Hills, where she currently resides in Spearfish with her husband and two daughters. For a landscape painter, moving to the west was ideal. Now Jenny spends her time painting landscapes of both the Midwest and the west.
“My paintings invite you to step close. Full of texture and color, they offer a luxurious eye feast. The images in my art are representations of the places I live and travel. Some are very personal and others capture the feeling of a place. The surface of my work is alive and lush. The gestural sketching and scratching give the surface action. The act of painting and drawing are on display. The work is so real and full of life you are there, experiencing the hand and eye of the artist, and the reality of paint.”
