Jamie Jacobsen was born in Sioux Falls in 1987, and has resided there for the majority of her life. Jacobsen’s formal art training began directly after graduating high school with an apprenticeship at Pantura Studios in Downtown Sioux Falls.
This position provided a specialized curriculum focusing on realistic drawing and painting. When the studio closed, Jacobsen was able to continue on to become a student at the Swedish Academy of Realist Art in Stockholm, Sweden. Upon returning to the United States, Jamie used relationships built with fellow artists to continue to learn her trade and develop a recognizable style of painting. In more recent years, Jacobsen has focused her time spent painting mainly on landscapes, heavily inspired by the beauty of the Great Plains sky. Her drawings and oil paintings are displayed in private collections regionally and across the country.
