Jerry Cook

For Jerry Cook, his artwork is a mergence of the past and present; a visual collision of his rural upbringing in Worthington, MN and relocation to Sioux Falls in 1998. Cook’s work serves as a multidimensional conduit that seeks to blend traditional painting formats with sculptural and textual elements. His unique utilization of organic and industrial materials, coupled flowing textures build an expressive landscape of emotion. Through these layers and Cook’s application of automotive paint, his work leans deeper into its organic nature through its subtle shifts of color, reflection, and shadow; creating artwork that breathes with the changing days.

The depth and detail of each piece is unique in their own right; but their goal is ultimately the same; creating a meditative experience. Cook’s focus on the healing power of art comes not only from personal experiences, but the impact art has played for those he supports. His passionate involvement in charities focused on suicide prevention and cancer awareness serve as a meaningful influence in his work, while simultaneously using his work to elevate the platform of those seeking a therapeutic outlet.
